Montrachet is a quaint French restaurant located on Given Terrace in Paddington Brisbane. It is the home of French gastronomy and impeccable service.
With an interior complete with red leather seats, brass and wood panelling, a wall lined with mirrors and a bar filled with some of the best French wines, it is no wonder you might think that for a moment you are in Paris.
Who Are They?
Shannon Kellam and Clare Wallace are the owners of Montrachet. Together, Shannon and Clare bring a wealth of talent to serve up a culinary experience like no other.
Having won over 80 medals and competed on an international scale in various culinary competitions, Shannon is the epitome of talent when it comes to food. He is also best known for representing Australia at the Bocuse d’Or competition. The Bocuse d’Or is a prestigious international culinary championship that is held annually and also known as the culinary olympics. Shannon has represented Australia not once, but twice at the Bocuse d’Or.
And while Shannon is in charge of food, Clare brings to life the front of house. She works hard to ensure that her team provides a fine dining experience to all guests. Her team are properly trained to provide a high level of service, as well as being knowledgable with all that Montrachet has to offer its guests.
Together, Shannon and Clare are the perfect team that make Montrachet a top restaurant in Brisbane.
The Montrachet Supper Club Experience
I have now been to Montrachet 4 times (and it won’t be the last) for Montrachet’s supper club, because I’m a sucker for good food. The Supper Club is held every Friday evening and is a 5-course degustation menu.
Why do I enjoy the supper club so much? Because every supper club is different.
The supper club gives the team at Montrachet a chance to more creative with their techniques and flavours. This means that the menu changes fortnightly depending on what locally sourced ingredients are available at the time.

Plus, the food is delicious.
My pet peeve is when you go to a restaurant and the meals are beautifully plated, but the food itself is not tasty. It’s the opposite at Montrachet, because the Montrachet team works hard to ensure all elements on the plate not only looks good, but also tastes divine. And best of all, everything on the plate is home made – yes the bread is homemade; yes the butter is homemade; yes the pastry is homemade.

On all my supper club visits, I have enjoyed numerous stand out dishes. I’ve had was a braised lamb that had been slow cooked for days (pictured above). It was absolutely delicious and the first time I’d ever tried something that had been slow cooked for a few days.

I also enjoyed their Strawberry and Rhubarb tart, which came with a pineapple sorbet – yum! It had a great level of tartness and sweetness, plus was refreshing because of the sorbet. And I can keep going on…


The Verdict
A visit to Montrachet is a must, especially for their supper club on Friday. Anyone can follow a recipe to cook a dish – but not everyone has the technique and talent to combine different flavours. Shannon, Clare and the team at Montrachet definitely have the talent to create a great culinary experience.

Montrachet is open on weekdays (Monday to Friday only) and it’s important to make sure you book ahead of time, because it gets busy. The supper club is held every Friday from 7pm onwards, and it is $99 per person for a 5-course degustation menu.

My stomach literally grumbled looking at this post! I thought the pan roast veel rack looked absolutely exquisite and I would love to try food from a chef who represented Australia at the Bocuse d’Or competition! What an honor!
