I am back on the Segway. This time we’re not roaming around the Lake Gardens, instead we are off exploring Putrajaya with the fantastic team from EcoRide.
After my last Segway tour, I was so excited to be getting back on this machine. Since the tour in the Lake Gardens, I have told Hubby that I wanted to buy an InMotion machine because it was so much fun.
Hubby and I have explored Putrajaya on foot previously, and I must admit, it was exhausting. Putrajaya is a HUGE place, and especially in the afternoon, it can get quite hot. I even thought to myself how cool it would be to explore Putrajaya on a Segway. And so, when I heard EcoRide was offering a new Segway adventure in Putrajaya, I immediately got in contact and off we went on a tour.

The Segway Tour in Putrajaya
It was later in the afternoon and we met the team from EcoRide to hop onto the Segway. There were a few beginners, so Nickki and his team were busy showing them how to use the Segway.
It had been a few months for me, but I remembered Nickki’s wise words when I first learned – “just trust the machine.” And that I did, and within seconds I was zooming around the parking lot ready to explore.
Putrajaya is a well-planned city around 30 minutes’ drive from downtown Kuala Lumpur. It is the main federal administrative centre of Kuala Lumpur, where you’ll find all of Malaysia’s ministries here. Here you’ll find well-manicured gardens and impressive architecture, which makes Putrajaya worth visiting while in Kuala Lumpur. And in my opinion, the best way to explore Putrajaya is on a Segway.
We spent around 2 hours exploring on a Segway, and it was really the perfect way to see the place. Overall the paths were easy to ride on, so there was no hassle. There were some streets to cross, but it was simple as everyone seems to follow the road rules in Putrajaya. Plus it’s so much less hustle and bustle then the city of Kuala Lumpur…especially over the weekend.
The Segway itself is super lightweight and easy to maneouver, without much trouble doing turns and spins. The machine is set to a maximum speed of 12 km per hour, so ensure the safety of all guests.
Highlights of the Segway Tour
During the duration of the tour, we got to see so much of Putrajaya. Here are some of my favourite highlights of the trip:
- Millennium Monument
- Putra Mosque – it’s pink!
- Perdana Putra – the Office of the Prime Minister
- Ministry of Finance
- Palace of Justice
- The China-Malaysian Friendship Garden
- Various well-designed bridges
- Putrajaya Lake – it’s 650 hectares in size
The Verdict
I loved exploring Putrajaya on a Segway. It was such a fun way to explore this beautiful part of Kuala Lumpur.
If you are interested in booking your Segway tour, the tour is RM199 (A$62 | U$46) per person, and includes a minimum of 2 hours’ tour, and it includes English & Chinese speaking guide, and a pick up/drop off service to your hotel.
I recommend wearing comfortable shoes and clothing, and bring along a small lightweight carry bag, bottled water, and sunscreen.

I’ve always wanted to try a segway. This looks like a fun day that didn’t kill your feet. The Putrajaya Mosque would for sure be on my list, if for no other reason than it’s pink!
Such a coincidence! I was just having an a debate with my girlfriend that exploring a city on a segway is great fun and she was very much against the idea. Your shots however, very much prove her wrong (and me, for once, right) although I guess Putrajaya lends itself to this mode of transport than many other cities in Asia. Got to say though, they really pimped you out with some top of the market segways! Much better than anything I’ve tried!
What a fun and quirky tour! I never been on a segway before, but I’ve seen the tours. They use those heavy looking bulky segway machines, but these look lightweight and easy to manouvre! Excellent way to give your feet some rest.
Segways are so much fun! We’ll definitely be doing this when we visit KL- makes touring the city so much easier especially when it’s hot and humid. We went on a segway tour in Old Town Rhodes but our wheels were much bigger. Your look so high-tech!
I’ve visited KL so many times but never Putrajaya. I’ve never been on a Segway either!. Next time i visit I’ll definitely travel out to Putrajaya and take a Segway tour. The points of interest out there look so beautiful and instagramable
Traveling via Segway looks so much fun! Why haven’t I heard about this while I was in KL? This is such a massive place to explore and the Segway would have made it more fun and easy!
We have been to Kuala Lumpur but missed Putrajaya. Putrajaya looks beautiful and though we have explored a lot of cities of the foot have never tried the Segway. We agree it must be saving a lot of energy and we can still explore nook and crannies of a town. Looks like we will have to consider Segway for our next tour.
This looks like a lot of fun! You can enjoy and move around the city easily. Putrajaya looks like it’s manageable to navigate. You saw a lot of tourist attractions by using a Segway. Did you stop for a while and eat? You mentioned that this was for 2 hours only.
Segwey seem like such a fun way to see a new town. It is not only an eco friendly way to travel but also helps in stopping at your whims and fancies. I hope to see Goa on a segwey. They just introduced it.
