Make your way to the corner of Melrose Ave and La Cienega Blvd in West Hollywood, and you’ll find E.P. & L.P. It’s a chic Asian inspired bar and restaurant brought to you by a couple of Aussies. And being the proud Aussies that we are, we had to check E.P. & L.P. out while in tinsel town.
This multi-storey establishment has a little something for everyone – just looking for a good feed? Head to the second floor and check out E.P., their sit down dining restaurant. Looking for some good music and cocktails? Then check out their rooftop bar L.P.

The Experience
L.P. – Rooftop Bar
We arrived to L.P. and were welcomed by a smiling hostess – an Aussie in fact. She showed us to our table, perfectly situated near the bar, with enough of a view of Hollywood hills. The deco – a chic open air rooftop deck. It had wooden flooring, greenery nicely placed around, outdoor string lighting and even a fire pit…just in case you get cold of course.
What stood out to me most about L.P. was the selection of craft cocktails…and what excited me was cocktails in a Bubble Tea style….or as L.P. like to call it, a ‘Bubble Tea Mouth Party.’ Oh my goodness, Yes! I knew straight away what I was going to order.
The first one I tried was the ‘Straight Outta Melrose’ Bubble Tea cocktail, which was vodka and brandy cocktail topped with Thai ginger ale, fresh lemon, celery seed syrup and pomegranate pearls. And it was even served like a traditional bubble tea – in a plastic cup with a large straw. It felt like home!
I loved it! It was delicious, it was fun…and it was addictive.
As the sun began to set, the sky turned a nice shade of pink and L.P. beautifully lit up. The music was chill, it wasn’t overly crowded and the temperature was perfect. We enjoyed it.
I finally decided to try another Bubble Tea cocktail…the ‘Thunderstruck,’ which combined gin with coconut water, vanilla, fresh lime and cantaloupe pearls. Equally delicious and fun to drink, and I would have loved to try the third option, but we had a dinner reservation to meet.
E.P. – Asian Dining
After a few drinks, we started to feel peckish and so we headed downstairs to E.P. for dinner.
E.P. is their sit down dining. Combine fresh Californian produce with Asian flavours and you’ll get E.P.. Expect to an array of Asian inspired dishes, combining a fusion of flavours from Thailand, China, India, and even Fiji. All the dishes are made to share and the portions are generous.
The deco is modern, simple yet striking – think copper accents (yes right down to polished copper tabletops) with a splash of greenery, floor to ceiling windows and a huge open kitchen, where you can watch the chefs hard at work.
And the atmosphere is vibrant and happening. We felt like it was ‘the’ place to be – very Hong Kong meets Hollywood vibe, and we loved it!
On the Menu
Our server was really helpful and suggested dishes for us based on popularity and our likes. So based on his recommendation, we decided on:
Kokoda – a Fijian style ceviche with baja rock shrimp, coconut milk, lime and chili
Check Yo Neck – Wood grilled lamb neck, wrap your self with lettuce, herbs & chili jam
Pan Fried Snapper – Snapper with white soy, ginger, green onion and cilantro
Wood Grilled Cornish Hen – Aromatic red peanut curry w/ coconut cream & thai basil
The Kakoda was probably one of our favorite dishes – the shrimp was submerged in coconut milk and lime, and the chili added a perfect spice. It was delicious and we could have easily ordered a second round. But alas, we had a lot more food coming our way.
In fact, we loved all the dishes we ordered. The lamb was fun to eat – a slightly healthier version of a spring roll. The chili jam added a lovely sweetness, while the lettuce and herbs added a perfect freshness. The snapper was perfectly cooked, with a crisp skin… just the way I like it. And I loved the fresh herb salad on top the chicken.
The Asian flavours did not stop with the food… even the E.P. & L.P. cocktails were Asian inspired. I tried the ‘Silly Rabbit,’ a combination of vodka, carrot (yes carrot), turmeric, almond cereal milk, lemon and cayenne. Totally did not know what to expect at all when I ordered it. I just thought, yup it’s got carrot, I am going to try it…and so glad I did. It was unique, it was pretty (I mean it was a bright orange colour), and it was delicious.
The Verdict
We enjoyed our date night at E.P. & L.P.. The food was great, the cocktails were delicious, and the atmosphere was vibrant & fun. We found the service to be attentive… I mean heck, we were never short of food and drinks.
So if you are looking for a place to head out with a group of friends for dinner, or a date, E.P. & L.P. is definitely a great spot for that. Be sure to make a booking, because otherwise it can be hard to get a table. Also, if you are looking for a sneaky drink before dinner or a late night out, L.P. is a great spot for that.

This one’s definitely going on the list for next time we’re in town! I love Asian inspired food and that bubble tea cocktail looks intriguing. I’m also a sucker for places that have incredible views. Awesome article!

Honestly, I never been in any rooftop bars but I would love to try it one day. I know that they are very beautiful in Asia but I believe and I see from your post that in LA you can find some nice rooftop bars as well 🙂
