My favorite time of the day in Singapore is at night. The city lights up so beautifully, and Singapore comes to life. While there are heaps to do in Singapore, here are my top 8 picks to do in Singapore at night.

Exploring Singapore at Night

1. Eat Satay at Lau Pa Sat

Satay is a must when you are visiting this part of the world – and for the best selection in town you definitely need to head to Lau Pa Sat, at the Telok Ayer Food Centre. It is located in the financial district of the centre and really comes to life at night.

Basically in the evening the street in front of Telok Ayer Food Centre is closed off from traffic and the whole street turns into night food market specializing in… you guessed it, Satay!

Now don’t be fooled by the stalls claiming to be the “#1” – truly all the stalls are pretty much the same. Some offer a more variety in meats – so the hardest decision you’ll have to make is which meats to choose.

And if satay is not your jam, fear not, there is plenty of food to choose from at the Telok Ayer Food Centre.

2. Sunset Drinks at the Sands Skypark in Marina Bay Sands

Visiting Marina Bay Sands is an absolute must when you’re in Singapore. I know that everyone wants to jump into that infinity pool overlooking the city. But if you’re not staying in the hotel, unfortunately this is not an option. So the next best things is to grab a cocktail at the Club Lounge, watch the sunset, and enjoy the incredible view from the top.

I prefer this option rather than paying to go to the observation deck, because why not enjoy a cocktail while enjoying the view. I really enjoy the music here and love looking over the Singapore skyline from the top of Marina Bay Sands.

And if you really want to want to spoil yourself, have dinner at the Ce La Vi Restaurant next door to the Club Lounge.

3. Catch the Garden Rhapsody Show at Gardens by the Bay

Every evening at 7:45pm and 8:45pm, the Gardens by the Bay run a light show from their super tree groves. The super tree grove already looks impressive day and night, but the light show takes it next level.

They call it the Garden Rhapsody Show, which is a light and music showcase. The style of music and light will vary depending on the time of year. But either way, it’s totally worth a visit and the best part is the show is completely free.

4. Watch the Impressive Laser Show at Marina Bay Sands

When it comes to exploring Singapore at night, walking around Marina Bay Sands is one of my favourite things to do…especially when the laser show is on.

There are two ways to catch the laser show at Marina Bay Sands. Spectra is the water & light show that runs every evening at Marina Bay Sands and is a wonderful water show filled with colors, music, and laser and runs for 13 minutes twice in the evenings. To catch this show, you need to make your way to the Event Plaza at the Promenade.

Showtimes for Spectra are as follows (times correct as at October 2017):

  • Sunday to Thursday – 8pm & 9pm
  • Friday & Saturday – 8pm, 9pm and 10pm

Alternatively, the laser show viewed from across the bay near the Fullerton Bay Hotel area is extremely impressive, especially the way the lasers lights up the whole of Marina Bay Sands.

5. Eat & Drink Your Way through Duxton Hill

Duxton Hill is one of my favorite spots in Singapore to wine & dine, especially in the evening. There are plenty of amazing restaurants and bars to check out here for every price tag. Duxton Hill is just a hop and skip away from the main city centre, and comes to life at night.

If Mexican is your jam, you totally must check out Lucha Loca, which in my opinion is one of the best spots for dinner at Duxton Hill. The atmosphere is pumping most nights and the food is delicious. The Mexican Corn is one of my favorite dishes, along with its tacos.

Or if Steak & Chips are more your thing, check out L’Entrecote The Steak & Fries Bistro…delicious steak and the fries are free flow!

6. Go Hunting for Singapore’s Speakeasy Bars

The bar scene in Singapore is fun and there is something for everyone here. Plus some of the top bars in Asia are found in Singapore so it’s totally worth checking out.

A fun added element to add to your pub crawl is to visit a few speakeasy bars.

Now I made it my mission to explore the speakeasy bar scene on my travels. Why? Well because speakeasy bars are fun and usually there’s a hidden gem waiting to be discovered.

Some fun bars you will want to consider is 28 Hong Kong Street and The Library. Great cocktails, excellent service and totally a fun evening out.

7. Explore Singapore’s River at Clark Quay

Clark Quay comes to life at night so it’s worth a visit when you’re in Singapore.

There are plenty of eating and drinking options to chose from at Clarke Quay, so the toughest decision to make is which one. And if you’ve already eaten, fear not young grasshopper, it’s a lovely walk along the lit up river.

8. Lend Your Ears at the Esplanade Outdoor Theatre

The Esplanade Outdoor Theatre hosts free musical performances every Friday to Sunday evenings and on public holidays. With the Marina Bay Sands in the background, sitting to enjoy a lovely performance in the outdoor theatre is a great way to take a break from sightseeing. And all performances are completely free to enjoy.

  1. These look amazing, thanks so much for sharing! I’ve only ever been to Singapore on short stop-overs, but everytime I was left wanting to explore the city more thoroughly. Your post seems to prove that feeling right 🙂 Great pictures and really interesting points mentioned!

  2. I loved Singapore when I visited a few years ago and I can’t wait to go again next year. I’m going to keep an eye out for stalls selling satay this time!

  3. My fiance and I just love Singapore so much. There is just so much to do and the people are really so lovely. Both the shopping and the food are just about impossible to beat with the variety, quality and atmosphere. You have definitely covered some great activities and experiences in this post and made me want to return there again to enjoy this wonderful island country.

  4. I have been digging Gardens By the Bay since I first saw it on Instagram. It looks like something straight out of a sci fi movie. I am now adding the light show at the Sands as part of that one-two punch. It looks like a beautiful evening.

  5. I was recently in Singapore during transit for 6 hours. It fuelled my curiosity about the tiny nation. After seeing your blog, I know what I have missed. Garden by the bay appeals the most to me.

  6. Your photos are absolutely stunning! I honestly do think that Singapore has some of the most beautiful nighttime sites in the world. I was only there for a 24-hour layover, so I’ll definitely have to go back and stay a few days to full experience it!

  7. Singapore is definitely one of my favourite places to visit on transit on my way to Australia. Last time that I was there, I stayed at the Marina Bay Sands just so I could use that swimming pool on the roof. I just love everything about it the cleanness, the food and all the fun things that you can do. Easting satay at Lau Pa Sat is something I am definitely going to add to my list next time that I am there, as I love street food and stay.

  8. I have wanted to visit Singapore for so long! Even more so after reading your post. Speakeasys are so fun, you are right! I haven’t been to one since I was in NYC many years ago. Duxton Hill sounds delicious and I love the colorful buildings.

  9. You have given all the reason to explore Singapore at night. I would definitely explore Clark Quay at night. It looks super vibrant and lovely. The Esplanade Outdoor Theatre looks absolutely inviting too. Thanks for the list of things.
